Throwing a holiday party? Make it easy on yourself by serving an indulgent and absolutely beautiful punch. Your guests will not only be impressed with your hosting savvy but you’ll be the talk of the circuit…or, at the very least, your home.
This is a new punch recipe that I’ve been serving. You can make it a virgin punch (non-alcoholic) or make it a punch with a buzz by substituting 1-1/2 cups apple schnapps for the apple juice concentrate. If you use the schnapps, remember to add 1 more PointsPlus value per serving.
Spiced Apple Hibiscus Tea Punch
Makes 12 servings
PointsPlus™ value 1 per 1 cup per serving
1 1/2 quarts (6 cups) water
6 herbal hibiscus or hibiscus-flavored tea bags
1 quart sugar-free, calorie-free ginger ale
One 12-oz can frozen unsweetened apple juice concentrate, thawed
1/4 cup fresh-squeezed lemon juice
Bring the water to a boil in a large saucepan over high heat. Add the tea bags, cover and set aside off the heat for one hour.
Squeeze any excess liquid from the tea bags into the pan and discard the bags. Pour the tea into a large punch bowl; stir in the ginger ale, apple juice concentrate and lemon juice. Serve over ice.
You can also garnish the glasses with a lemon wedge, thinly sliced apples on a cocktail stirrer, cinnamon stick or edible flower, available at high-end markets.
